Celebration of Education Scholarship Feb 6-7, 2020 – Registration is now open!

FOCUS ON PERSON-CENTRED CARE

We are very excited to welcome Dr. Moira Stewart, PhD, as our guest speaker on February 6 and 7. Dr. Stewart is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine at Western University and she held the Dr. Brian W. Gilbert Canada Research Chair in Primary Health Care Research from 2003-2017. Dr. Stewart was the first researcher to work with Dr. Ian McWhinney and together they developed the Patient-Centred Clinical Method. She is a thought leader in patient-centred care and has published widely in this field. We are looking forward to hearing Dr. Stewart’s insights on this important and timely topic. This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Continuing Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto for up to 7.5 Mainpro+ credits.

Dr. Moira Stewart PhD, is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine at Western University and formerly the Dr. Brian W. Gilbert Canada Research Chair in Primary Health Care Research (2003-2017). Dr. Stewart has published widely on the topic of Patient-Centered Care and has edited, with colleagues, an international series of books applying the patient-centered clinical method. She is Co-Principal Investigator of a CIHR Community-based Primary Health Care Team Grant on Patient-Centered Innovations for Persons with Multimorbidity. An innovation, that she led and evaluated, integrated family physician and nurse practitioner care with home care and secondary care. She has been a National leader in capacity building for research as the Principal Investigator on a CIHR Strategic Training Grant on interdisciplinary primary health care research called TUTOR-PHC. Dr. Stewart has created a researchable database of the Electronic Medical Record data in Southwestern Ontario. She works closely with policy-makers on the Primary Health Care Program called INSPIRE-PHC. Dr. Stewart received the James Mackenzie Medal of the Royal College of General Practitioners (2004), The College of Family Physicians of Canada Family Medicine Researcher of the Year Award (2007), was Co-recipient of the Dean’s Award of Excellence – Team Award at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and received the Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research from the North American Primary Care Research Group (2017).
