Writing for Publication - Workshop

The workshop is organized by UTOPIAN and will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Department of Family & Community Medicine. The session will be led by Drs. Frank Sullivan & Nick Pimlott and will consists of two parts as described below (9-12 & 1-4); you can choose to attend morning only or the whole day.

Writing for Publication workshop intended to help you improve your skills in writing papers and other scholarly pieces. The morning session is aimed at presenting main characteristics of an article which is likely to be accepted by a journal, making informed decisions on time management and journal choice, setting a ‘writer’s brief’ by making decisions in five key areas, using brain-storming techniques to expand this brief, understanding the structure of each of the four main sections of a standard  journal article, constructing a plan for each section and understand the advantages and pitfalls of internal reviewing. The afternoon session of the workshop will be a hands-on, tutor-led session consisting of actual writing of your own paper with target of completing 80-90% of your paper.
