Education at DFCM


The Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Toronto is the largest Department of Family Medicine in North America. We train nearly 40% of Ontario's family physicians. 

In a single academic year, DFCM consists of over 1500 faculty, 396 residents, over 700  unique medical student experiences, 85 Grad students, and thriving Research, Faculty Development, Quality Improvement and Global Health Programs. Our students and residents have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide variety of experiences in family medicine: from urban to rural practices, large hospitals to small community-based clinics, varying patient populations, research, QI and much more. Our faculty gain from continuing education and faculty development programming, mentorship and opportunities to grow in their teaching and academic careers.
