DFCM External Review 2012-2020

In March 2021, in advance of a search for the next Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) Chair, the Temerty Faculty of Medicine initiated a comprehensive external review process. 

This included a self-study report and consultation with faculty, staff and learners to inform the selection of the incoming DFCM Chair and guide the department’s future strategic development.

The reviewers, Dr. Ruth Wilson, professor of family medicine and former Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University, and Dr. Kevin Grumbach, professor of family community medicine and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, provided a comprehensive and insightful analysis of the strengths and areas for growth of DFCM. 

The reviewers highlighted that DFCM is an ‘outstanding department’ that functions well, with good morale. The self-study and supporting documents are available here.
