We are pleased to announce that Dr. Giovanna Sirianni is the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine's (DFCM) new Enhanced Skills Program Director. Dr. Sirianni’s five-year term appointment begins on October 1, 2018.

Dr. Sirianni is an assistant professor at DFCM, a family physician with a focused practice in palliative care at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and a Master’s degree candidate at both the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and DFCM, where she is working toward her MScCH in Health Practitioner Teacher Education. She is also a former Program Director for DFCM’s Palliative Medicine Enhanced Skills Program.

As Enhanced Skills Program Director, Dr. Sirianni is responsible for the leadership, coordination, evaluation and advancement of all aspects related to PGY-3 Enhanced Skills Residency Program and Visa Trainee Fellowship Program. This responsibility includes oversight of all activities related to training, including recruitment, admission, awards, curriculum design and delivery, assessment, and remediation. She will also lead and support scholarly initiatives in education that study and promote best educational practices in postgraduate education.

Dr. Sirianni has been transitioning into the role throughout September, taking over from former Program Director, Dr. Julia Alleyne, who is continuing in her role as Associate Program Director of Academic Fellowships at DFCM. We'd like to thank Dr. Alleyne for all of her great work in her role as Enhanced Skills Program Director, and we look forward to working with Dr. Sirianni in her new role.
