2017 Internal Departmental Review Process for EDF Applications
Do you have an idea for an EDF project? Here’s your chance to turn that idea into a successful application.
The DFCM would like to encourage our faculty members to consider applying for the Education Development Fund (EDF). EDF grants require matched departmental funding (up to $10,000 from the EDF matched by the DFCM). Applicants must apply through the DFCM internal review process prior to submitting an application to the Faculty of Medicine. If you are intending to collaborate with other departments, you may also need to submit your application to multiple departments to compete for matched funding from all stakeholders.
EDF funded projects can either be an Educational Innovation and Development project OR an Education Research project.
The Office of Education Scholarship (OES) is here to help you with your EDF application. We can provide consultations as you formulate your idea, or at any stage of the process. If you are thinking about applying, email Rachel Ellis at dfcm.edscholarship@utoronto.ca to arrange a consultation with an OES team member.

Submission process
Step 1: If you are thinking about applying for an EDF grant, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing the Office of Education Scholarship.
Step 2: To arrange for a consultation, email the Office of Education Scholarship.
Step 3: Submit the internal DFCM application Application Ford (Word) before Friday, January 13, 2017 AND apply for ethics. Please review the instructions about Submitting a Research Ethics Board Application on the DFCM website. Note that projects moving through the REB process at the university must first go through an internal review process within the department. Applicants would be advised to submit to the department as early as possible.
Step 4: Wait for notification from the Office of Education Scholarship. If you are notified that your application will be supported by the Chair, you must submit your final application online before the Faculty of Medicine's deadline (noon on February 15, 2017) through the EDF website. You will also be responsible for submitting the Letter of Support from theChair that we will email to you.
